LAHORE – The Punjab Traffic Police have announced a significant step toward modernizing the driving license process by introducing Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled vehicles for driving tests.
The initiative aims to address corruption issues and ensure greater transparency in the licensing system.
According to traffic authorities, a summary for the purchase of 32 AI-powered vehicles has already been submitted to the provincial government.
The vehicles will be equipped with sensors, cameras, and processors to monitor the test-taking process in real-time.
The total cost for the 32 vehicles is estimated at over Rs160 million, with each vehicle’s installation process costing approximately Rs 600,000.
These AI vehicles will be deployed across Lahore and other major cities, with two vehicles already tested on an experimental basis.
The system is designed to automate test results, making it impossible for unqualified candidates to obtain a license. Authorities expect the vehicles to be fully operational by December.
