Members of the National Assembly from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) have voiced their concerns regarding the severe gas load shedding in Karachi, which has disrupted daily life and left citizens in distress.

They have emphasized that gas is unavailable for up to an hour during both day and night in many areas of the city. The parliamentarians have accused the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) of committing a national crime by leaving citizens without gas in their homes. MQM P representatives stated that despite paying hefty bills, residents are being forced to use gas cylinders or purchase expensive meals from hotels. They also criticized the gas load management system in Karachi, calling it a clear example of the institution’s incompetence. The lawmakers further highlighted the lack of continuous gas supply as evidence of the company’s malice and a national crime. They also pointed out that due to poor planning, old gas lines have been deactivated, and new lines have caused widespread digging, turning parts of the city into deserts. The MQM P members urged the gas company to correct its approach promptly and ensure that the citizens of Karachi receive the basic amenities they are entitled to.
