‘Patron-in-Chief of the Businessmen Panel, Mian Anjum Nisar, reiterated his commitment to serving the business community and fostering unity within it. He emphasized the urgent need to reduce production costs through lower electricity tariffs and concessions on the import of raw materials. He highlighted that easing industrial challenges would ensure the continuity of production processes and remove barriers to exports.Anjum Nisar shared these thoughts during a high-tea event organized in his honor by former Chairman of the Rice Exporters Association (REAP), Rafique Suleman, at a local club.
The event was also addressed by former Senior Vice President of FPCCI Abdul Rahim Janu and REAP Vice Chairman Javed Jilani. Other notable attendees included Haji Ghani Usman, Engineer M.A. Jabbar, and several others.During his speech, Anjum Nisar shed light on the challenges his group faced following their victory at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), accusing opponents of adopting an aggressive approach. He emphasized the importance of sportsmanship, citing his own history of accepting defeats gracefully, in contrast to his opponents, whom he described as absent following their loss.
Anjum Nisar also highlighted the importance of diversifying exports beyond traditional sectors like rice and textiles, recommending a focus on IT and value-added products. He advocated for negotiating favorable trade agreements to access new global markets.
He further stressed the need to simplify regulations, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and invest in modern infrastructure and technology to enhance competitiveness in international markets.Abdul Rahim Janu assured his full support for Anjum Nisar, praising his dedication to the business community. Javed Jilani conveyed Aqeel Karim Dhedhi’s message of support, asserting that the entire business community stands united with the Businessmen Panel and Anjum Nisar.
Rafique Suleman expressed complete confidence in Anjum Nisar’s leadership, affirming that chambers and associations across the country are united in their support. He raised concerns about the high-interest rate of 13% and inflation, which has declined to 4.90%, urging immediate reduction of interest rates to single digits.
He also emphasized the need to lower electricity tariffs and production costs to make exports competitive in the global market.In his closing remarks, Javed Jilani thanked all attendees for their participation and reiterated their unwavering support for Anjum Nisar. He stated, “In the past, we stood by Anjum Nisar, and we will continue to do so in the future.
