The year 2024 is about to end, and like previous periods, this year has been somber as several beloved artists, politicians, and famous personalities passed away.

The deaths of these showbiz stars, and statesmen left major void as these icons are celebrated for their exceptional talent both in Pakistan and globally, and are deeply missed by fans. Despite passing away, the legacy of these people will continue to inspire future generations, and their contributions to art and culture will be remembered forever.

The year 2024 took away gems like Khalid Butt, Talat Hussain, Abid Kashmiri, Sardar Kamal, Taskeen Zafar and Naheed Ansari.

Pakistanis who Passed Away in 2024

Abid Kashmiri

A big name of showbiz Abid Kashmiri was one of the gems Pakistani showbiz industry lost this October. The 74-year-old died after a prolonged illness.

He was known for his versatility and classic dialogue timing, and was celebrated for his role in the 1988 film Bazar-e-Husan. Some of his famous projects including Teesra Kinara.

Altaf Hussain

Legensary filmmaker Altaf Hussain died in September 2024. Hussain directed around 85 films, including hits like Sala Sahib, Rani Betii Raj Kerry Gi, and Mehndi.

He started his career in 1969, and achieved great success with films such as Athra Putar and Sahib Jee. The film industry mourns his loss, remembering his significant contributions to Pakistani cinema.

Furqan Haider Rizvi

The respected theater producer, Furqan Haider Rizvi, passed away on November 10, 2024, in Dallas, USA. He was famous for producing Bakra Qiston Pe, which starred the late Omar Sharif.

Haniya Aslam

Haniya, famous for her work with Zeb, Aslam passed away in 2024 at the age of 39 due to cardiac arrest. Born in Kohat, the ace singer was known for her blend of traditional Eastern and Western music.

She rose to fame in 2001 with the hit track Chup, and her performances on Coke Studio were widely celebrated. She later moved to Canada to study audio engineering and returned to Pakistan to continue her music career.

Khalid Butt

Veteran actor Khalid Butt also passed away at the age of 76, this January. Some of his classic projects include Janjaal Pura, Landa Bazar Life Aur Lahore and GT Road.

Mazhar Ali

PTV star Mazhar Ali, who appeared in shows like Aroosa, Afshan, and Deemak, passed away in 2024 in Houston, USA, after a brief illness.

Naheed Ansari

Ansari – one of Pakistan’s iconic passed away in July after battling cancer for some years. Her death created void as tributes poured in from fans, colleagues, and loved ones, remembering her not only as a talented chef but also as a kind mentor and friend.

She was known for being culinary authority and was parts of TV shows for years.

Rashid Dar

Veteran producer Rashid Dar, a key figure in PTV’s golden era, passed away on March 20, 2024. He was famous for his work on the iconic drama Andhera Ujala.

Saeed Ahmed

Legendary cricketer Saeed Ahmed passed away in 2024 at the age of 86. His death left a significant mark on the sports world in Pakistan.

Sardar Kamal

Sardar Kamal passed away from a heart attack. Known for his comedic talent, he appeared in over 30 films and numerous stage dramas, bringing joy to audiences with his humor.

Talat Hussain

Talat Hussain died on Sunday after prolonged illness. He was under treatment at a private hospital. The renowned actor was born in 1940 and had two daughters and one son.

Hussain was awarded Pride of Performance Award in 1982 from the Pakistani government and the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) in 2021.

Taskeen Zafar

Taskeen Zafar, a popular newscaster from PTV’s golden era and former Radio Pakistan employee, passed away in 2024 at the age of 67 after a brief illness.

Ustad Tafu

Ustad Tafu Khan, a legendary tabla player, passed away on October 26, 2024, in Lahore. He was known for his unmatched talent and collaborations with some of the biggest names in Pakistan’s music industry.

Yahya Siddiqui

Yahya Siddiqui, the husband of actress Shagufta Ejaz, passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer. A former producer, he appeared frequently in Shagufta’s vlogs and was remembered for his sweet nature and loving family.
