A private Indian Airlines flight en route from New Delhi to Jeddah made an emergency landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on December 14, 2024, following a medical emergency involving a 55-year-old male passenger. According to aviation sources, the passenger fell seriously ill while the aircraft was flying over Pakistani airspace.
Despite the crew administering oxygen, the passenger’s condition worsened. As a result, the pilot contacted Karachi Air Traffic Control, seeking permission for an emergency landing. Upon receiving clearance, the flight was diverted to Karachi, where it safely landed. A medical team from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) immediately boarded the aircraft to provide assistance and stabilised the passenger’s condition. The passenger, an Indian Muslim, was also given necessary medication.
After the medical emergency was addressed, the flight departed from Karachi, returning to Delhi instead of continuing to Jeddah, as originally planned.
