Minister Local Government Zeeshan Rafique launched Punjab’s first Decision Support System by clicking the screen. Minister Local Government Zeeshan Rafique said that the Punjab government, with support of the Asian Development Bank, has launched Punjab’s first Decision Support System for the citizens of Sialkot and Sahiwal under PICIIP Project, to provide public access to information related to urban planning and hence to improve good governance. After Sialkot and Sahiwal, its scope will be extended to the entire Punjab. Through this system, illegal construction will stop and agricultural land will be used only for agricultural purpose, that will help in preventing corrupt elements and practice to increase people’s trust in government institutions.
Secretary Local Government Shakeel Ahmed Mian, Program Director Mr. Hamza Salik, Senior Project Officer of Asian Development Bank (ADB) Omar Ali Shah, Deputy Project Director Talha Zubair, Deputy Project Director Salman Usman, Director Monitoring Sujawal Bhatti were also present at the occasion.
Program Director Hamza Salik said in his opening remarks that the PICIIP and DREAMS Project are the mejor projects of water supply, solid waste management and sewerage water management, under which the mega projects of Sahiwal and Sialkot are in the final stages of completion.
In all these projects, the latest business models have been adopted for municipal services. Now the municipalities will provide the latest services to the people using these sustainable models. On this occasion, Project Director PICIIP Mr. Hamza Salik told that with the support of Asian Development Bank, the Punjab government is striving day and night for the welfare of people, And this decision support system is a milestone step towards this goal.
