ISLAMABAD – Pakistani citizens planning to get an e-passport may have to pay up to Rs40,500 under the newly announced fee schedule issued by Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, with charges varying according to passport validity, page count and processing category.
The announced schedule outlines fees for 36-page and 72-page e-passports with validity periods of five and 10 years, offering applicants different options based on their travel requirements and budget. Under the normal processing category, a five-year e-passport with 36 pages will cost Rs9,000, while applicants seeking a 72-page passport will have to pay Rs16,500.
| Passport Validity | Pages | Normal Fee | Urgent Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 Years | 36 Pages | Rs. 9,000 | Rs. 15,000 |
| 5 Years | 72 Pages | Rs. 16,500 | Rs. 27,000 |
| 10 Years | 36 Pages | Rs. 13,500 | Rs. 22,500 |
| 10 Years | 72 Pages | Rs. 24,750 | Rs. 40,500 |
Those opting for urgent processing will face higher charges, with the fee for a 36-page, five-year e-passport set at Rs15,000. The 72-page version will cost Rs27,000.
The costs rise further for passports with a 10-year validity period. The normal fee for a 36-page e-passport has been fixed at Rs13,500, while a 72-page passport will cost Rs24,750.
For applicants requiring urgent processing, the 10-year, 36-page e-passport will cost Rs22,500. Meanwhile, those seeking a 72-page passport under the same category will have to pay Rs40,500 — the highest fee listed in the announced schedule.
The fee structure highlights the difference between normal and urgent processing, as well as the additional cost associated with longer validity periods and a greater number of passport pages.
Applicants have been advised to select their preferred validity period, page count and processing category according to their individual needs when submitting an e-passport application.
Citizens are encouraged to verify the applicable fees through official passport department channels before applying.
