KARACHI – A cold wave has entered the southern port city of Karachi as temperature was recorded at 11°C on Monday.
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast that the weather will remain dry and clear during 24 hours while there would be cold in morning and night hours.
The minimum temperature in the city is expected to be 10°C, while the maximum temperature is expected to be 30°C over the next 24 hours.
“Dry weather and cold wave conditions is expected in most districts of the [Sindh] province. Shallow fog (in patches) is likely to persist at few places in Sukkur, Kashmore, Jacobabad and surroundings during morning hours,” PMD said in its prediction.
A cold wave is likely to affect most parts of the country from 08th to 14th December. Under the influence of cold wave conditions, a significant drop in day and night temperatures are predicted. Day temperatures are likely to drop (04-06) °C below normal in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
While (05-07) °C below normal in Balochistan and Sindh. Cold with gusty winds are likely in Sindh, Balochistan and parts of Punjab. Frost is also likely to develop over plains.
Moderate rain-wind/thunderstorm (snowfall over the hills) is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Buner, Shangla, Manshera, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Astore, Ghizer, Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Kotli, Haveli and Bagh from 07th (night) & 08th (afternoon) and 10th (night) & 11th December. (with occasional gaps).
