Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa weather; isolated rain, snowfall predicted

PESHAWAR – Rains of varying intensities and snowfall over hills are predicted in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday night.

Cold wave will likely persist across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the week.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over northeastern parts of Pakistan. It will likely move northeastwards during the next 12 to 18 hours.

Under these conditions, rains with snowfall over the hills are predicted at isolated places in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Buner, Shangla, Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan, Abbottabad and surroundings on Sunday night. Cold weather is expected elsewhere in the province.

On Monday, dry and cold weather is expected in most districts of the province. Extremely cold weather is expected in the hilly areas. However, rain with snowfall over the hills may occur in Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan and Abbottabad. Frost is likely to occur in some plain areas of the province during the morning.

Peshawar’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 03-05°C on Monday and 08-10°C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours. However, rain occurred at isolated places.

Kalam remained the coldest place in the province where the temperature dropped to 04°C below the freezing point.

In Peshawar, minimum temperature was recorded at 04°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 41 per cent.
