ISLAMABAD – A local court on Saturday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for PML-N stalwart and Prime Minister’s aide on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah in the case related to the PDM 2020 rally.

Judicial Magistrate Sidra Gul Nawaz issued arrest warrants for Rana Sanaullah, directing authorities to arrest the former interior minister and present him in court on December 12.

The warrants were issued in connection with a case registered at Satellite Town police station in Gujranwala, dating back to October 2020, when Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) rally was held. Rana Sanaullah is facing charges for allegedly removing a container and running over police officers with a vehicle during the power show.

Khurram Dastgir, Imran Khalid, and Salman Khalid Butt have already been acquitted in the case, the police had initially submitted a charge sheet in favor of Rana Sanaullah, clearing in the case. The court however quashed police’s report and issued a summons for Rana Sanaullah.

Despite being summoned multiple times, Rana Sanaullah failed to appear before the court, prompting the issuance of the arrest warrants.

The court’s action shows ongoing legal scrutiny of the prominent political figure, as the case continues to unfold in coming days.
