Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori held a meeting with the Ambassador of Qatar, Ali Mubarak Al-Khater, at the Governor House. During the meeting, both parties discussed matters of mutual interest, with the Qatari ambassador praising the initiatives led by the Governor of Sindh. The meeting was followed by a formal Guard of Honor for the Qatari ambassador. Governor Tessori and Ambassador Al-Khater also toured various sections of the Governor House, including the room of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The Qatari ambassador planted a tree in the Governor House lawn, where both the Pakistani and Qatari flags were raised, and the national anthems of both countries were played.

The Consul General of Qatar was also present at the event. Ambassador Al-Khater later wrote his comments in the guestbook. In a media interaction following the meeting, Governor Tessori highlighted the longstanding friendly ties between Pakistan and Qatar. He emphasized that while the relationship has been strong, Pakistan seeks to strengthen it further.

The Governor noted that Qatar has always supported Pakistan, especially during challenging times, and that the people of Pakistan have a deep sense of affection for Qatar.

The Governor revealed that during the meeting with the Qatari ambassador, it became clear that Qatar is keen to make significant investments in Pakistan, particularly in Karachi. Qatar’s interest is primarily in two types of investments: government-to-government and private sector investments. Governor Tessori also mentioned that given the current economic crisis in Pakistan, it is promising that a country like Qatar is willing to invest at this crucial time.

Governor Tessori explained that the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) project, led by Army Chief General Asim Munir, provides a “one-window” operation, ensuring that investors do not face any bureaucratic hurdles.

He assured that Qatar’s investors would be provided with guarantees and a favorable environment to maximize their profits. Governor Tessori further elaborated that Qatar’s local investors are ready to invest in Pakistan, and he plans to inform them about the sectors and industries where investments can yield immediate results. In response to a question, Governor Tessori commented on recent political developments, including the protests led by certain political figures.

He remarked that despite the efforts of those involved, their actions did not benefit their cause. He criticized the actions that he felt were damaging to both the country and its political stability. Referring to the detained children in jails, he expressed his willingness to help secure their release, stating, “These are our children, and I am ready to guarantee their bail.”
