Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah welcomed Bulgarian Ambassador Irena Gancheva during a meeting to strengthen bilateral ties and explore opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, education, trade, and culture. The discussion also covered efforts to rehabilitate flood victims. The Chief Minister highlighted the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Bulgaria, which dates back to 1964, and emphasized Sindh’s interest in expanding collaboration in various sectors. Ambassador Gancheva shared that sunflower cultivation is a major agricultural activity in Bulgaria, presenting opportunities for joint efforts between Sindh and Bulgaria in this sector. Both parties agreed to work together to enhance agricultural practices and share expertise. CM Murad Ali Shah proposed collaboration between universities in Sindh and Bulgaria to promote research and academic exchanges. He noted Sindh’s status as the cradle of the Indus Civilization and emphasized the province’s rich historical and cultural heritage, which resonates with Bulgaria’s cultural wealth. Ambassador Gancheva revealed that Bulgarian scholars are actively studying Sindhi literature and culture. In response, both sides agreed to foster cultural exchange programs between Sindh’s Culture Department and Bulgaria to further mutual understanding. The meeting also included discussions on the rehabilitation efforts for flood-affected families in Sindh. The Chief Minister informed the ambassador that construction of 2.1 million homes for displaced families is underway, with a focus on providing swift relief to those impacted by the disaster.
