MUMBAI – Internationally acclaimed Indian Composer A.R. Rahman reacted to the decision of his wife to part ways after 29 years of marriage.
Taking to X, previously known as Twitter, AR Rahman said “We had hoped to reach 30 years of marriage, but everything in this world has an end, unseen by anyone. Even the throne of God can tremble under the weight of broken hearts.”
The Indian singer and composer added, “While we are trying to navigate through this difficult time, shattered pieces cannot be put back together. We are grateful to our friends and well-wishers for their support, prayers, and for respecting our privacy.”
Earlier, Saira Banu, the wife of A.R. Rahman, announced her separation from her husband. Following her announcement, Rahman also shared his reaction to the news.
The Indian media reported that Saira Banu’s lawyer, Vandana Shah, issued a statement regarding the separation, stating that Saira made the difficult decision to part ways with A.R. Rahman due to complexities in their relationship.
The statement read, “Despite their deep love for each other, the couple realized that bitterness and challenges had created a distance between them that neither party could overcome at this time.”
Saira appealed to the fans to respect her privacy and emotions during this challenging period.
A.R. Rahman and Saira Banu were married on March 12, 1995, and the couple has three children. The marriage was arranged by Rahman’s mother, as he revealed in an earlier interview.
