SYDNEY – Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has offered strategic advice to former Pakistani captain Babar Azam on regaining his form, suggesting that a break from cricket could be beneficial.
Ponting highlighted the approach taken by Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, who managed to overcome a similar slump in form by taking a break to rejuvenate himself.
Ponting suggested that Babar could follow a similar path to come back stronger, allowing himself time to refocus. “Babar should consider taking a step back from cricket for a while to regain his form and secure his position in the Test team,” Ponting remarked.
Babar Azam, who has been under pressure due to recent performance issues, has also faced the added challenge of leadership changes within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Over the past few months, the PCB has rotated the captaincy of the national team several times, moving from Shaheen Shah Afridi to Babar and, most recently, to Mohammad Rizwan.
