ISLAMABAD – Pakistani government approved the much-anticipated Hajj Policy for 2025, as pilgrims are looking for details about ‘once-in-a-lifetime journey’.

The new Hajj policy permits a total of 179,210 Pakistani citizens to perform Hajj in 2025 and the cost for the government-sponsored Hajj scheme is said to be between Rs10.65 lacs to Rs10.75lacs.

Hajj quota for pilgrimage will be equally divided between state-run and private schemes, with each receiving half seats. Like in previous years, a computerized lucky draw will be conducted to allocate the government’s share.

The new policy under the Sharif-led government outlines 5,000 quotas which will be reserved for the government’s sponsorship program, and 25,000 will be available through private organizers.

Children under age 12 will not be allowed to undertake the pilgrimage. Meanwhile, 1,000 quotas will be set aside for those facing exceptional circumstances, while 300 quotas will be reserved for low-income laborers.

To further streamline the process, the government introduced special Hajj management app, whereas “Road to Makkah” service will be available at both the capital Islamabad and the port city of Karachi.

Religious Affairs Ministry will share full details about the schedule and Hajj applications. The cabinet also discussed other important issues, including a report on balancing the price of urea fertilizer and the potential signing of agreements with three countries.
