Inspector General of Police Shoaib Dastagir directed to initiate a crackdown against professional beggars and drugs addicted mafia and said that speedy action should be taken against professional beggars in streets, roads and mohallas in all districts of the province.
The notification in this regard has been sent to CCPO Lahore, all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs and it has been emphasised upon by the IG that timely actions in collaboration with teams of child protection Bureau should be taken against those beggars who exploit children for begging on roads whereas there should be no delay in taking action against drugs addicted who snatch commodities of life from citizens on the pretext of unemployed laborer and jobless persons.
He directed regional and district police officers that the beggars and drugs addicted mafia on roads cause trouble for the citizens, hence, they don’t deserve any leniency therefore special action should be taken against those professional male and female beggars who exploit children for the purpose of begging and in this regard mutual operations should be conducted in collaboration with the teams of child protection Bureau.
He moreover said that targeted operation should be undertaken against those drugs addicted who harass the citizens passing by the roads or sitting in their vehicles and such mafia should be swept away by legal actions.
He further added that keeping in view the facilities of the citizens, the patrolling hours of patrolling forces should be made more effective and the report with respect to action taken against beggars and drugs addicted should be sent to Central police office on daily basis.
