ANKARA – Turkish aerospace and defense company TUSAS headquarters has been hit by a terror attack that caused four deaths and over dozen injuries. Two attackers, a man and a woman, were killed in assault.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya condemned “heinous attack” and vowed to pursue those responsible. A verified video showed an explosion at the TUSAS headquarters, but no group has claimed responsibility yet.
TUSAS HQ was rocked by blast and gunfire, which was captured in live footage. Emergency responders, including police and medical teams, swiftly arrived at the scene to assist. Initial reports said multiple assailants arrived in a taxi with long-barreled rifle and stormed the place. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed the attack and mentioned casualties but did not shared details.
The attack occurred while President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was attending the BRICS summit in Russia, where he condemned the violence and received condolences from Russian President Vladimir Putin. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte expressed concern and reaffirmed NATO’s support for Turkey.
TUSAS, founded in 1973 to reduce foreign defense reliance, is known for producing military drones and fighter jets. Experts warn that this incident could raise significant questions and speculation in a country that has not experienced such violence in recent times.
Pakistan Leaders Condemn Ankara Attack
Pakistan’s top civil leaders President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Ankara, which resulted in the tragic loss of life. In a statement, President Zardari extended his deepest condolences to the government and people of Turkey, emphasizing Pakistan’s unwavering support during this difficult time.
He also offered sympathies to families of the victims and expressed hopes for a swift recovery for the injured. Zardari highlighted the global threat of terrorism, noting Pakistan’s own experiences with such violence and reiterating the need for international cooperation to combat this menace.
PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep shock and sadness over the attack. He conveyed heartfelt condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Turkish people. Sharif also prayed for the families of the victims and for the quick recovery of those affected.
