Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a consultative meeting with leaders of coalition parties, focusing on the upcoming constitutional amendments on Thursday.

The banquet, organised in honour of senators, was attended by parliamentary leaders from MQM, BAP, PML-Q, PPP, and other parties, including Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Ijazul Haq, and Khalid Magsi.

The matter of the 26th Constitutional Amendment was discussed, with participants briefed on the formation of a constitutional bench and updates regarding military courts.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Anwarul Haq Kakar were also present.

Coalition leaders assured the prime minister of their support for the constitutional amendment, which is expected to be presented in parliament tomorrow, with voting planned for Saturday.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated, “All political parties and institutions are working together for the nation’s progress. We, along with our allies, are heading towards a prosperous Pakistan in the national interest.”

During the event, he congratulated the leaders on Pakistan’s successful hosting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, calling it a major diplomatic achievement.

“The successful organisation of the SCO summit has bolstered Pakistan’s diplomatic standing on the global stage,” said Shehbaz Sharif, praising the efforts of all relevant institutions and highlighting the pivotal role of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar.

Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted Pakistan’s economic progress, stating that inflation has significantly decreased in a short period, and remittances are on a steady rise. “The record increase in remittances reflects the trust overseas Pakistanis have in the government’s policies,” he noted.
