The World Culture Festival Karachi, organized by the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, continues to enthrall audiences with an exciting array of performances. On the thirteenth day of the festival, the Urdu adaptation of the British classic murder mystery “Clue” was staged in Auditorium I, adding a thrilling twist to the festival’s lineup.
Originally directed by British theatre director Jonathan Lynn, this adaptation was brought to life under the direction of Farhan Alam Siddiqui, with Roohi Fatima handling the translation. The talented cast included Fatima Adil, Hassan Alam, Ali Raza, Dilbod Rahim, Ajnesh Dodeja, Zobi Fatima, Arslan Malik, and Muhammad Asim, who collectively infused the suspenseful narrative with energy and intrigue.
The story revolves around six guests invited to a dinner party hosted by an anonymous figure. Each guest is given a pseudonym—Colonel Mustard, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock, Professor Plum, and Miss Scarlet. Despite being advised against disclosing personal details, the guests soon discover that they all share a common foe: their host, who is blackmailing them. Presented with the grim options of either paying their extortionist double or killing the innocent butler, chaos ensues as the guests scramble to figure out who among them is the true culprit.
The performance was met with enthusiastic acclaim from the audience, who praised the unique storyline and the stellar performances of the cast. This lively and humorous rendition of a classic murder mystery offered a delightful blend of suspense and comedy, making it a standout event of the festival.
