7 FC men martyred in terrorist’s attack in Kurram district

Terrorists ambush on the Frontier Corps (FC) patrolling convoy in the restive Kurram Tribal district on Monday left at least seven men in uniform martyred and two others seriously wounded.

Reports reaching here said a patrolling team of the FC was attacked in Pastuni area of Chinar Khel Police Station in central Kurram leaving many people Killed and wounded. “A patrolling team of FC 154 wing was close to a seasonal river when the armed terrorists opened fire on them from different sides inflicting heavy losses on the FC jawaans”, police and the local administration officials said.

The security forces rushed to the site of the incident and shifted the victims to the Combined Military Hospital Thal where the doctors pronounced seven soldiers of the Para-military force dead while two others were admitted for treatment in serious condition.

Those embraced martyrdom in Monday’s attack on FC convoy include Naik Jalal, Wahdat, Imran, Mustafa, Javed, SepoyAwais and Arif. However, there were no reports of casualties on part of the attackers who fled the scene after committing the crime though the security forces are also reported to have kicked off search and net operation in the region.

Kurram tribal district, it may be recalled, has been in the grip of violence since long and the bloody clashes between the warring tribes of the restive tribal district that claimed over 60 people and injuries to scores of others in the months of August and September last.

Expressing heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyred FC personnel, they said the nation salute the brave security forces who sacrificed their lives for ensuring peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the blood of martyrs will not go in vain and the anti-state elements would not succeed in their nefarious designs of creating anarchy in the region.
