ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who landed in Asian nation on a 3-day official visit.

A red carpet and 21-gun salute greeted him upon landing late Wednesday. The capital was blanketed with enormous posters of Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Upon his arrival at the airport, Anwar  was greeted by children in traditional attire presenting bouquets. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with members of the federal cabinet, were present to welcome the visiting dignitary.

Accompanied by a high-level delegation, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Sharif. The leaders are set to hold meetings during his stay, discussing a wide-ranging agenda aimed at strengthening bilateral ties in various fields, including trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, the halal industry, tourism, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people contacts. They will also address regional and global developments.

In a statement, the Foreign Office emphasized the strong historical, cultural, and faith-based ties between Pakistan and Malaysia, noting that this visit presents a significant opportunity to deepen their relationship.
