PM Shehbaz calls for end to bloodshed in Gaza, demands full UN Membership for Palestine

NEW YORK — In key adress at United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif demanded an immediate end to the ongoing Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip, as he emphasized the urgent need for global action over mere condemnation, highlighting the severe suffering of Gazan children.

He expressed deep anguish over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, urging the international community to acknowledge the tragedy and take action. He called for a two-state solution and demanded that Palestine be granted full membership in the UN, stressing that the bloodshed must cease.

PM Sharif condemned the failure to implement UN resolutions concerning Israel, warning that continued inaction could escalate conflict throughout the Middle East. He pointed out that recent violence in Lebanon has resulted in over 500 casualties and that more than 41,000 Palestinians have died in the ongoing conflict, which has displaced nearly the entire population of Gaza.

In wake of his remarks on Gaza, the prime minister addressed situation in occupied Kashmir, accusing India of violating international commitments and implementing oppressive measures against the Kashmiri people. He condemned India’s unilateral actions since August 2019, calling for dialogue to resolve the Kashmir dispute.

He further discussed Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism, noting the heavy toll on the nation, including significant casualties and economic losses. He pledged to confront new waves of terrorism while working with the international community to enhance global counterterrorism efforts.

Prime Minister also highlighted troubling rise of Islamophobia, particularly in India, and called for a coordinated response from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

He also highlighted face of challenges, reiterating the importance of determination and hard work in overcoming obstacles. His address resonated with many attendees, reflecting the urgent need for action on pressing global issues.
