ISLAMABAD – The motorways police have closed M2, which connects Islamabad and Lahore, and M1 for traffic at different points, leaving commuters in distress.
The closure of the motorways is causing congestion and long queues at different locations with people trying to find alternate routes to reach their destinations.
Authorities have closed the M2 from Chakri point while vehicles coming from Neela Dullah are being diverted towards other routes.
Police said the the decision has been taken to maintain law and order situation ahead of the rally being organised by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Lahore today, September 21.
The power show will be staged in Kahna area of Lahore as party leaders and workers have started reaching the venue to finalise the arrangements.
The permission comes after the Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected a petition to prevent the rally, ruling it inadmissible, and instructed the government to decide on the public gathering’s approval.
