LAHORE – Police have launched a crackdown ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) rally scheduled for September 21.

The police arrested Ali Imtiaz Warraich, the parliamentary leader of PTI in the Punjab Assembly. He was held in custody for two hours before being released.

Additionally, the police conducted a late-night raid on the house of PTI leader Aliya Hamza.

Aliya Hamza said that despite being imprisoned for 16 months, the police raided her home. She added that police from three stations raided her house at midnight and searched the premises.

She remarked, “They are scared of PTI’s rally. I am out on bail. If I am wanted, I should be informed.”

Sources said that several other PTI leaders are also likely to be arrested.

On the other hand, PTI has announced a 27-member committee to manage the arrangements for the Lahore rally.

The announcement was made by Lahore President Sheikh Imtiaz Mahmood and Secretary General Owais Younis.

The committee members will be responsible for all rally arrangements.

The PTI has already submitted a request to the district administration for permission to hold the rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on September 21.
