Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, team visits KUA

Chinese delegation led by the Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, and consisting of the actingConsul General in Karachi Zhang Hao along with the minister counselor,attachés, and counselors of the embassy and consuls of the consulate inKarachi visited the University of Karachi and met the KU Vice ChancellorProfessor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, and the Pakistani Director of theConfucius Institute at KU Professor Dr Muhammad Nasiruddin Khan, andothers on Friday.

The KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi informed the visitors that we feelproud that we have a solid friend, China, who always supported Pakistanat international forums. He hoped that the visit of the Chinesedelegation and especially the Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong wouldhelp strengthen our relationship at the institutional and global levels.He shared that the KU has a very strong connection with the SichuanNormal University of China and as a good partner, they have supported alot in running the CI on the campus.

He mentioned that the Chinese andPakistani directors of the CI have played an important role in enhancingthe facilities and standards at the KU’s CI.He expressed that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a wayforward for the economic development and prosperity of the people ofPakistan as this project is one of the most important projects in termsof economic growth and economic development of Pakistan.The KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi said that though we are facingproblems in terms of internal law and order situation but commitment ofboth countries is there. Our government and military leadership have afull commitment that whatever comes, we will go for the CPEC.He observed that when we talk about the CPEC, he thinks that the oldstrategic position has created some huddle. There are some proxy nationsengaged in creating negative activity but, the political leadership andstakeholders in Pakistan, firmly believe that the CPEC is for theeconomic prosperity of Pakistan.”I have committed that on the one front, we talk about the securityaspects. But on the other front, at the university level, we havecommitted to creating a public opinion in support of the CPEC, which isa very important factor.”The Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong appreciated the KU VC Professor DrKhalid Iraqi opinion about the China-Pakistan relations and the CPECdevelopment. He said that Dr Iraqi has made a very comprehensiveelaboration about our bilateral cooperation and relations and ourinternational relations.Jiang Zaidong expressed that the KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi and theCI’s Pakistani Director Professor Dr Nasiruddin Khan have made a greatcontribution to the development of the Confucius Institute on thecampus.

He expressed that the University of Karachi is such a large universitywith around 50,000 students which is not very common in many countriesas well as also not common in Pakistan.He added that in China, we always say that we should count on educationand talent to build up a strong country. So the cultivator of talentsneeds to be supported by education.

“I think the University of Karachiwill play a very indispensable role in promoting Pakistan’s nationaldevelopment. After I came to Pakistan, I noticed that the IT industry ofPakistan has developed very rapidly and Pakistan’s IT talent is worldfamous.”
