Two girls were killed while five children and a man were injured when unknown men opened fire at a school van in Attock District on Thursday, police and rescue officials said.
A private school van in the rural area of Surag was taking students to school when unidentified individuals opened fire on the van at the Dherry Kot location. As a result of this incident, two students, Rameen Shafiq and Urwa Fatima, succumbed to their injuries on the spot, while four male students and one girl student were injured.
The injured include 8-year-old Muhib Ali, son of Ishtiaq Ahmed, 7-year-old Sameera, daughter of Karam Din, 8-year-old Shahzaf, son of Shafiq Ahmed, 12-year-old Haseeb Ali, son of Saeed Akhtar, 4-year-old Shahzam, son of Shabbir, and 48-year-old Afzal, son of Muhammad Arif.
The deceased include 9-year-old Rameen, daughter of Shafiq Ahmed, and 10-year-old Urwa, daughter of Jamshed. The injured were transferred to the Government Asfandyar Bukhari District Hospital, Attock, with the help of 1122, where they were provided with initial medical aid. According to the latest reports, their condition is out of danger.
