IG opens AVL facility for vehicle crime prevention

IG Sindh, GhulamNabiMemon, has inaugurated the new AVL (Automated Vehicle Location Centre) District Facility in East Karachi. This center will feature a categorized digital library and sketching facilities designed to aid in identifying suspects involved in vehicle theft and snatching. During the briefing, it was highlighted that the facility will strengthen communication between investigative officers and plaintiffs, ensuring timely updates on case progress.

The opening ceremony was attended by Additional IG Karachi, DIG East, SSP East, SSP AVL, and other senior officials. SSP AVL detailed the facility’s objectives and available services, including verification of vehicle crime data from AVL and CPLC, registration of stolen or snatched vehicles in crime databases, and recording recovery data. The center will also facilitate the issuance of clearance certificates or NOCs for vehicles, final reports for insurance claims, and assist in obtaining CCTV footage from crime scenes. Furthermore, it will help track stolen mobile phones and connect with tracker companies, as well as verify vehicle engine and chassis numbers and register FIRs.
