CHAIRMAN PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Monday inaugurated a series of cutting-edge medical facilities at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in Karachi. The new additions include the 120-bed Rashid Soorty Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences, the 110-bed Saif-ul-Islam Department of Neurology and Stroke Unit, and the highly advanced Cyber Knife S7-FIM system. This state-of-the-art equipment and the expanded facilities signify a major leap forward in the healthcare infrastructure of Sindh.

Speaking on the occasion, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari highlighted the prominence of Sindh’s healthcare institutions, noting that some of Pakistan’s finest hospitals are located in the province. Indeed the JPMC, the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), and the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) are providing best medical facilities not only to the residents of Karachi but people from other parts of the country also turn to them. The introduction of the Cyber Knife machine at JPMC is a notable advancement. This technology, valued at thousands of dollars abroad, is now available to Pakistani patients at no cost, reflecting the hospital’s exceptional standing in global cancer treatment. Sindh’s achievements in enhancing healthcare infrastructure are commendable. Over the years, the provincial government has invested significantly in expanding and modernizing medical facilities, particularly in Karachi. However, with the ever-increasing population and evolving healthcare needs, it is imperative that this momentum continues. The focus should remain on expanding and upgrading healthcare infrastructure to keep pace with demographic changes. Other provinces should take note of Sindh’s progress and pursue similar endeavours to elevate their healthcare systems. Reforms in public sector hospitals should be prioritized to ensure they provide high-quality treatment to the patients. Improving healthcare infrastructure is not just about expanding facilities; it’s about creating a system where every citizen can receive the care they need in a respectful and efficient manner. By fostering advancements in healthcare and addressing these critical needs, we can build a healthier future for our people.
