Relief for Bushra Bibi in May 9 violence cases

RAWALPINDI – Another relief for wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, from 12 cases related to the violence that occurred during May 9 riots.

The court turned down police’s request for her physical remand and released her from these cases. Salman Safdar represented Bushra Bibi, while investigation officers from the May 9 cases also attended the court session.

Anti Terrorism Court of Pakistan Judge Malik Aijaz Asif decided to discharge Bushra Bibi after hearing arguments from both the defense and prosecution. Bushra’s sought physical remand of Bushra Bibi for the May 9 cases and initially requested her inclusion in the investigation. However, the ATC denied the remand, stating it could not be granted without the accused being present in court.

In a similar update, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a reference against Imran Khan and his wife in the Toshakhana case. The reference, submitted to an accountability court in Islamabad by Investigating Officer Mohsin Haroon and Case Officer Waqar Hassan, accuses the couple of buying and selling a jewelry set valued at Rs75 million from the Toshakhana.
