MUMBAI – The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on Thursday rejected the offer to host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, leaving the hosting duties with Bangladesh.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah stated that the ICC had approached them to host the World Cup, but they firmly declined.

He explained, “The monsoon season is upon us, and we are already set to host the Women’s ODI World Cup next year. I do not want to give the impression that we will host World Cups back-to-back. No discussions have taken place with Bangladeshi officials yet,”.

Meanwhile, the ICC has stated that they are closely monitoring the situation in Bangladesh.

A final decision regarding the potential relocation of the Women’s T20 World Cup from Bangladesh is expected by August 20.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from October 3 to October 20 in Bangladesh.

However, due to the current situation in the country, hosting the Women’s T20 World Cup there seems increasingly challenging.
