Lahore Police contributed in the national cause to create awareness among masses against coronavirus as the deputed personnel at its pickets are making citizens aware of the importance of use of masks and sanitizers.
Lahore Police also arranged as many as 17 awareness seminars at different levels in collaboration of related departments to sensitize its force and jawans regarding the dangerous affects of coronavirus and precautionary measures to ensure their safety. Lahore Police has distributed masks, gloves, sanitizers, glasses, rain coats and safety kits to its employees particularly dealing with public at pickets and Police Stations.
Wash bassoons have been installed at different areas of the city, including pickets and offices. Chemical spray is being done regularly in police stations and all offices of Lahore Police. We have ensured strict measures including implementation on Section 144 to contain the movement of the public during partial lockdown in the city imposed by Punjab Government in wake of impending coronavirus, DIG Operations Lahore Rai Babar Saeed stated.
While giving details of the overall performance of Lahore Police Operations Wing, DIG Rai Babar Saeed said that as many as 57912 citizens have been checked at more than 229 pickets of Lahore Police and more than 51 thousands persons have been contained of their unnecessary movement and directed to go back to their homes. Rai Babar Saeed further informed that as many as 1157 FIRs were registered as 2252 persons were arrested in violations of sections 144 during the partial lockdown. The accused persons nominated in FIRs were released afterwards meeting the necessary SOPs including taking warranty bonds from them as not to move in city again unnecessarily. The DIG apprised that as many as 28284 motorcycles and 17782 vehicles were contained from movement in the city. Lahore Police proceeded also against 197 shops and 10 restaurants under section 188 PPC of the city.
