LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more intermittent monsoon rains in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Per the synoptic situation, monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate the central/southern parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave prevails over northern parts of the country.
Under these weather conditions, more monsoon rains and gusty winds are predicted in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Khanewal, Kot Addu, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan on Tuesday night. Heavy falls may also occur at few places in northeast/central districts during this period.
On Wednesday, more intermittent rains and gusty winds are predicted in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Faisalabad, Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.
Heavy falls may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of northeast Punjab. Urban flooding may also occur in the low-lying areas of northeast Punjab during the forecast period.
Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 33-35°C on Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile, rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls occurred in Islamabad, Lahore and parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C.
In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 36°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 76 per cent.
