Fake Websites Exploit Apple’s iPhone Duo Launch to Target Buyers

Fake Websites Exploit Apples Iphone Duo Launch To Target Buyers

Experts have warned consumers about fraudulent websites exploiting the launch of Apple’s iPhone Duo, the company’s first foldable smartphone, to steal personal information and potentially cause financial losses.

Cyber security firm Kaspersky had detected scam campaigns worldwide, including fake websites offering a purported 25% discount and using countdown timers to pressure buyers into making quick decisions.

Some fraudulent platforms collect customers’ contact details and delivery addresses before promising to arrange payment later. Others advertise preorders in multiple languages and falsely claim to redirect users to Apple’s official website.

Olga Altukhova, Kaspersky’s senior web content analyst, said scammers exploit excitement surrounding flagship launches to make fraudulent offers appear credible and encourage buyers to share sensitive information.

The company advised consumers to purchase devices only from official websites and reputable retailers, use reliable security software, and protect payment details through virtual cards or secure payment services.
