ISLAMABAD – More monsoon rains are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Tuesday night and Wednesday with occasional gaps.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate the central/southern parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave prevails over northern parts of the country.
Under these conditions, more intermittent monsoon rains are expected in the twin cities, Kashmir, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Sindh and Balochistan on Tuesday night and Wednesday. Heavy falls may also occur at isolated places in Kashmir, Northeast Punjab, South Sindh and South Balochistan during the period.
Heavy falls may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Kashmir, northeast Punjab, Koh Sulaiman and adjoining hilly areas of northeast/south Balochistan. Urban flooding may also occur in the low-lying areas of northeast Punjab, Lower Sindh and Karachi during the forecast period.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 27-29°C on Wednesday and Thursday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 27-29°C on Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile, rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls occurred in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Sindh, North/southeastern Balochistan and Kashmir during the last 24 hours.

Nokkundi remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 45°C. Maximum temperature in Khairpur was recorded at 43°C, and Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan and Rohri at 42°C.
In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 30°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 96 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 30°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 89 per cent.
