Free Solar Panels in Sindh: Latest Update on Distribution Date, Eligibility Criteria

KARACHI – Sindh government is working to make solar energy more accessible, especially for those belonging to lower income class, and now the distribution of free solar is set to roll out in August.

The new initiatives are said to be a sigh of relief to address energy shortages and provide affordable electricity. The government launched various schemes and partnerships to facilitate solar panel installation for underserved areas, including subsidies and financing options to make solar energy more accessible.

Sindh Free Solar Scheme

Sindh provincial Energy Minister Nasir Shah confirmed that the distribution of two lac solar panels will start in August. He said the government is making efforts to introduce policy for cheaper electricity supply in Sindh with help of World Bank and other global lender.

Minister also mentioned new plan to offer free electricity, which requires cooperation from the federal government. Shah said Sindh government earmarked funds in its budget for half million solar panels.

Details shared by minister said the free solar panel would be able to power fan and three bulbs. He further added that the government has also discussed banks for providing more solar panels.

Besides collaboration World Bank Sindh government will pay interest on the bank loans for solar panels.
