As Karachi grapples with an intense heat wave, residents are further burdened by prolonged load shedding across the city — both announced and unannounced power outages lasting between 6 to 13 hours are affecting various areas.

Several neighborhoods, including Korangi, Landhi, Liaquatabad, Sarjani Town, and Orangi Town, have experienced extended periods without electricity. In some cases, even areas that are typically exempt from load shedding are facing outages due to technical faults.

In Malir Khokharapar, residents are enduring a particularly harsh schedule, with 3-hour power cuts occurring every half hour. Other affected areas include Ranchhod Line, Pakistan Chowk, and Lyari, where load shedding continues to disrupt daily life.

The combination of soaring temperatures and frequent power outages is taking a toll on the health and well-being of Karachi’s residents. The lack of electricity hampers the ability to use fans, air conditioners, and other cooling devices, making it difficult for people to find relief from the heat. Additionally, the power cuts disrupt water supply systems, communication networks, and other essential services.

Citizens are increasingly frustrated with the ongoing load shedding and are calling on the authorities to take immediate action to address the power crisis. Many are demanding a more reliable and consistent electricity supply, especially during the peak summer months when the demand for power is at its highest.
