DCFA denies any reduction in milk price

President Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association (DCFA) Shakir Umer has said that as yet there was no decision to reduce milk prices in the metropolis following the situation that emerged after the coronavirus pandemic. He told Pakistan Observer that the reduction of Rs 6 was made only by Gujjar dairy farms and it was under personal capacity and DCFA have not decided yet.
Earlier there were reports that dairy farmers have announced to decrease milk prices in the metropolis following the situation that emerged after the coronavirus pandemic. As per details, the dairy farmers have decided to reduce milk prices by Rs6 to Rs90 per litre. They said that they’re doing it voluntarily to help people.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Sindh government had imposed a complete lockdown for 15 days to contain and curb further spread of coronavirus.
Earlier, Shakir Umer Gujjar in a letter to the Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has urged to allow milk transporters, farmers, milk men, meat sellers, feed providers, medical shops and veterinary doctors to continue their business without any restrictions.

The President DCFA said that milk and meat are essential commodities and are daily-use items by the people. He said that the transport and feed supply which is coming from Punjab and interior Sindh should also be supported and permitted to continue functioning without any restriction.
