846 Sikh pilgrims arrive to celebrate Jor Mela

In a joyous occasion marked by religious fervour, 846 Sikh pilgrims journeyed from India to Hassan Abdal on Sunday to partake in the revered Jor Mela celebrations, commemorating the 418th death anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev. The pilgrimage was met with stringent security measures ensuring the safety and tranquility of the participants.

Upon their arrival, officials from the local administration, Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), and the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) warmly greeted the pilgrims. Sardar Gurbachan Singh, representing the Sikh yatrees, expressed gratitude, stating that Pakistan holds a special place as their second home for Sikhs residing across the globe.

Asmat Ullah, caretaker of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), announced that the Sikh pilgrims would embark on their journey to Gurdwara Nanaka Sahib on June 10. He assured the pilgrims of top-notch facilities during their 10-day sojourn in the country.

During their stay, the devotees have a meticulously planned itinerary, encompassing visits to various Sikh shrines. The schedule includes paying homage at Nankana Sahib on June 10, Gurdwara Sacha Sauda Farooqabad on June 11, Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib Narowal on June 12, and Gurdwara Rohri Sahib Eminabad on June 14, culminating in Lahore.

The pinnacle of the pilgrimage will be the main ceremony honoring Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s death anniversary at Gurdwara Dera Sahib Lahore on June 16, promising a culmination of spiritual reverence and communal harmony. The influx of pilgrims underscores the enduring cultural and religious ties between India and Pakistan, fostering goodwill and cooperation transcending borders.
