A disturbing incident of sexual abuse has been reported from prestigious Lahore Gymkhana Club.
The incident caused embarrassment for management and members of club established in 1878. It led to an FIR as the victim alleged that she was sexually assaulted in a room at the private club.
In the FIR, the woman mentioned having a good relationship with the accused – a senior government official – who offered her some job opportunities.
The woman who lives at her sister’s house was having domestic issues and the official offered her accommodation and took her to the club, where the alleged assault took place.
The victim mentioned calling police after the incident. Lahore Operations DIG Faisal Kamran confirmed the report and said a case had been registered against suspect.
Meanwhile, the club’s secretary said the matter was investigated internally, and both parties were asked to leave to resolve the issue privately for the sake of club’s reputation. Lahore GymKhana Club is yet to issue details about the sexual assault incident as police investigations are underway.
