During the first 100 days of the Punjab government, the performance of Punjab Food Department has been exemplary.
Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yaseen had said that the Chief Minister Punjab has fulfilled the promise of providing affordable and quality food to the public. This is the most valuable relief for 13 crore people in the first 100 days of our government, he added.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Punjab has taken a lead in significantly reducing the prices of food items. Prices of flour, wheat, roti, naan, and semolina have decreased by up to 48% in the first 100 days. Bilal Yaseen said that with the availability of affordable and quality flour, the issue of food affordability for the common man has been resolved. Historic relief has been provided on roti, naan, rusks, bread, and other bakery products.
Special efforts of the government have reduced chicken prices by 350 to
400 rupees per kilo while maintaining the availability and quality. Food authority and district administrations are busy in the field to ensure reduced prices and better quality of food items. The Provincial Minister said that during the checking of 1160 flour mills, heavy fines were imposed on substandard arrangements and food grain licenses were suspended. Officers of the Food Department are continuously in the field to check the quality of flour at flour mills across the province. Ou government’s pace has been set in the first 100 days. Subsequently, on the occasion of World Milk Day, the Provincial Food Minister expressed his views at a seminar organized by the Pakistan Dairy Association in a local hotel. He said that milk is a fundamental and essential part of daily human needs. There is immense potential for investment in Pakistan’s dairy industry. To ensure the supply of pure milk, 150 food safety teams are daily checking the quality of milk. The Provincial Food Minister made it clear that no one will be allowed to sell poison in the name of milk. I am proud to have laid the foundation of the Food Authority as the Minister of Food Punjab. Punjab is a role model for all other provinces. National Assembly Member Shaista Pervaiz Malik, Dr. Talat Nasir Pasha, DG Punjab Food Authority, and other participants also expressed their views during the event.
