GUYANA – Afghanistan on Tuesday secured a decisive victory over Uganda in the fifth match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, winning by 125 runs.
Afghanistan’s bowlers dominated the game, with Fazalhaq Farooqi delivering an outstanding performance, taking 5 wickets for just 9 runs. Uganda struggled against the Afghan bowling attack, managing to score only 58 runs before being all out in the 16th over.
Batting first, Afghanistan set a challenging target of 184 runs at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, finishing their innings at 183 for 5 in 20 overs. Naveen-ul-Haq and Rashid Khan also contributed significantly with two wickets each.
For Uganda, Robinson Obuya was the highest scorer, making 14 runs off 25 balls.
Uganda had won the toss and chose to bowl first but could not contain Afghanistan’s batting lineup.
