LAHORE – Schools, colleges and higher educational institutions will remain closed on May 28 Tuesday as Prime Minister announced public holiday to mark Youm-e-Takbir.
A notification issued by Cabinet Division said “In modification of Cabinet Division’s circular No. 10-02/2023-Min.II dated 20. December. 2023 regarding public and optional holidays for the year 2024, Prime Minister has been pleased to declare 28.’ May 2024 throughout the country.”
Furthermore, all private and public institutions will also remain closed for one day across the country as per government’s announcement.
As Karachi board exams are set to start after postponement due to heatwave, Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi is yet to announce any update for students.
May 28 Holiday
Youm-e-Takbeer will be celebrated on Tuesday with zeal and fervour, as nation marked historic day when Pakistan conducted nuclear tests at Chagai. This day, known as Youm-i-Takbeer, symbolizes the achievement of formidable defense capabilities and regional stability through power equilibrium.
In 1998, the Asian nation entered the league of nuclear powers by conducting these tests, which were pivotal in rebalancing regional power dynamics and strengthening national defense.
