Inspector General of Sindh Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon, has announced a strategic initiative to enhance policing by strengthening administrative and financial management within police stations. Chairing a video link meeting focused on police station reforms, Memon emphasized the need for comprehensive improvements. The meeting saw direct participation from Additional IG Operations, DIG Headquarters, Establishment, T&T, Admin Karachi, and Finance, while DIGs and SSPs from Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Larkana, and Shaheed Benazirabad joined via video link. DIG Asim Qaimkhani provided a briefing on the integration and expansion of police stations.

IG Memon directed the submission of a final report on merging low-crime-rate police stations, stressing the necessity of revamping police station infrastructure. “Direct involvement of officers and personnel in police stations is crucial,” IG Memon stated. He highlighted the goal of merging smaller police stations to ensure efficient use of budgets and financial resources, facilitating better crime control in various areas through the establishment of new stations. A proposal was put forward to grant direct budgetary control to DSPs/ASPs to ensure effective utilization of allocated funds. “Our aim is to guarantee reforms in police stations and strengthen actions against crime,” IG Memon asserted.

He noted that police stations in high-crime areas need more resources and emphasized the importance of ensuring the effective use of these resources. IG Memon requested comprehensive, actionable recommendations and proposals from DIGs and SSPs regarding the integration and expansion of police stations, aiming to ensure effective reforms and improved policing across Sindh.
