Jamaat-e-Islami has submitted a resolution in the Sindh Assembly challenging the Co-operative Department’s practice of appointing administrators to residential societies. The resolution, presented by Assembly member Muhammad Farooq, demands an investigation into the matter and the formation of a committee comprising judges and assembly members. Farooq’s resolution calls for a comprehensive report on the societies where administrators have been appointed, to be presented in the Assembly.
Until the committee’s findings are available, the status quo should be maintained. The resolution urges the Sindh government to clarify its position and ensure that the rights of the societies’ allottees are protected. Farooq highlighted that a significant portion of Karachi’s population is connected to these societies.
