Gas theft remains a significant concern in Karachi, but recent efforts by SSGC are making headway in combating this illegal activity. A notable development includes the rejection of bail for accused Hote Ali by the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad Bench, for using gas directly for commercial purposes, resulting in his imprisonment. SSGC’s Security Services and Counter Gas Theft Operations (SS&CGTO) Department also conducted a successful raid at DildarPakwaan Centre in Scheme # 33, Karachi, where the owner FahadHussain was found consuming gas directly through a service line.

The raiding team disconnected the illegal connection and lodged an FIR against the owner for theft claims. In another operation, SSGC’s Customer Relations and Distribution East Zone teams uncovered a private pipe arrangement illegally connected to the company’s mainline, serving 150 houses in Gulshan-e-Moazzam, Bin Qasim Zone.
