Italian Ambassador explores Sindh’s heritage at Chowkundi

Italian Ambassador Marilena Armellin, accompanied by Consul General Danilo and a delegation, engaged in a cultural exchange with Sindh’s officials during their visit to the ancient Chowkundi graveyard. Provincial Minister of Culture, Tourism, Antiquities, and Archives, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, along with Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, warmly welcomed the Italian delegation. Minister Zulfiqar Ali Shah provided the Italian guests with a comprehensive overview of the historical significance of Chowkundi Cemetery, highlighting its importance in Sindh’s rich cultural heritage.

He emphasized the province’s commitment to preserving its cultural legacy, which has attracted a growing number of foreign tourists to explore Sindh’s historical and cultural landmarks. Expressing her appreciation, Italian Ambassador Marilena Armellin expressed her delight at visiting the ancient cemetery and learning about its intriguing history. As a gesture of goodwill, Provincial Ministers Zulfiqar Ali Shah and Syed Sardar Shah presented replicas of traditional Sindhi Ajrak and artifacts from Mohenjo-Daro to the Italian delegation. The exchange showcased the deep cultural ties between Italy and Sindh. The event was attended by Secretary of Culture and Tourism Sindh Khalid Chacha, MD Tourism Fayaz Shah, DG Antiquities Abdul Fattah Sheikh, and other officials, fostering further collaboration in promoting cultural exchange and heritage preservation.
