KARACHI – United Arab Emirates (UAE) is again witnessing heavy rains and thunderstorms as the new weather system triggered heavy rain and thunderstorm, and it prompted cancellation of flights including those coming from Pakistan.

As UAE authorities cautioned people to follow safety measures this week, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) shared new travel guidelines for people planning to travel to Dubai and Sharjah.

As the route saw huge influx of passenger, a spokesperson of the country’s national flag carrier said that air operations of several airlines, including PIA, will remain suspended until further notice.

It is closely monitoring the situation and will resume operations when conditions improve. Passengers on affected flights are advised to contact the airline’s call center for updates and assistance with their travel plans.

The airline remains dedicated to supporting passengers during this challenging time. Passengers are encouraged to stay informed and follow the airline’s guidance for a smooth travel experience.

Amid the rainy spell, Emirates also canceled several flights due to bad weather, affecting arrivals and departures at busy Dubai International Airport.

Several other airlines are also rescheduling flights and extended regrets for any inconvenience, offering rebooking without charges for affected customers.

UAE Rains

Heavy rain and thunderstorms hit Abu Dhabi and Dubai, leading to flight cancellations and bus service suspensions in Dubai. Five inbound flights to Dubai were diverted, while nine arrivals and four outbound flights were cancelled.

UAE residents woke up to strong winds, thunder, and lightning at around 3 am. The country’s weather department issued an amber alert, indicating widespread rain-bearing clouds until May 3 and advising safety measures.
