Farmers took out a protesting rally against unjustified delay in procumbent of wheat and rejected supporting price of Rs. 3900 per 40 kg. the rally started from Alipur Road led by Central Vice-President Kisan Board Pakistan Amanullah Chatha, Malik Shoukat Ali Phulrawan and Rai Imdad Ali and concluded at Fawara Chowk.
Participants of rally chanted slogan as like wheat price Rs.3900 per 40kg not acceptable and demanded to increase supporting price of wheat from Rs.3900 to Rs. 5000 per 40 kg.
Farmers said that due to unwise policies of the government, farmers are compelling to sell their wheat to middlemen on lowest prices and growers are depriving not only to gain justified return of their hardworking but also facing financial deficit.
They demand to start procurement of wheat without further delay and fixed Rs. 5000 per 40 kg supporting price of wheat. On the other hand Deputy Commissioner Sundas Irshad said that Pakistan Agricultural Storage & Services Corporation (PASSCO) has started distribution of ‘Bardana’ empty sacks among farmers to procure wheat whereas PASSCO has established 20 procurement centres in the district Hafizabad. While visiting Iqbal Nagar PASSCO procurement centre, she said PASSCO has fixed target to purchase 14 lakh bags of wheat from district Hafizabad this year. DC Sundas Irshad witnessed process of distribution of ‘Bardana’ and to review to different arrangements made to provide basic facilities to farmers at the procurement centre.
