Petrol price expected to go up further tonight

ISLAMABAD – In a move expected to impact consumers across the nation, the federal government is likely to set the new petrol prices for the next 15 days on Monday (tonight).

The sources said that the prices might go up once again

The revelation comes amidst a backdrop of global price fluctuations and federal tax deliberations, with the latest reports hinting an imminent rise in fuel prices.

The new prices which are expected tonight are likely to show both international market dynamics and domestic fiscal policies.

WHAT NEW PETROL PRICE COULD BE?

The sources said that the changes might include a substantial increase in petrol prices by Rs8 per liter over the next 15 days. The new petrol price could be Rs298 per liter.  Besides it, the diesel prices could see a hike of Rs2 per liter during the same period.

Furthermore, there are discussions within the government about a significant overhaul in petrol price, with considerations to elevate it from the current Rs60 to a staggering Rs100 per liter.

The development follows a recent precedent set by the federal government, which implemented major adjustments in fuel prices ahead of the Eid festivities.

PETROL, DIESEL PREVIOUS PRICES

On April 1st, petrol prices surged by Rs9.66 per liter, settling at Rs289.41 per liter, compared to the previous rate of Rs279.75.  The diesel prices witnessed a reduction of Rs3.32 per liter, now standing at Rs282.24 per liter from the earlier Rs285.56.

The Ministry of Finance highlighted further modifications including a reduction of Rs3. 22 per liter in diesel prices, which now stand at Rs282.24 per liter. Similarly, kerosene prices were slashed by Rs2.27 per liter, setting the new rate at Rs186.39 per liter. Besides it, light diesel saw a decrease of Rs0.38 per liter, with the new price at Rs167.80 per liter.
