LAKKI MARWAT – A senior police officer and his guard were martyred after terrorists targeted their vehicle in Lakki Marwat, said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police in a statement.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gul Mohammad Khan and Constable Naseem Gul embraced martyrdom while another policeman was injured after their vehicle came under attack  near the Manjiwala Chowk.

Security officials have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

On Friday, a police constable was martyred when unidentified gunmen attempted to target post-polio campaign assessment team in Birmil tehsil of South Waziristan district.

Police said that the assessment team was visiting the area to prepare a report when unknown persons opened fire, leaving the police constable dead on the spot.

However, the polio monitoring team remained safe in the attack.
